Getting Prepared

PREPARING FOR YOUR EXPERIENCE

Every woman, no matter how confident, have a few last minute jitters before they come to me for their shoot. Just having her photo taken is sometimes enough to make some women sweat. But a boudoir experience can be one of the most fun and exilerating things you can do as a woman today.

It is my belief that EVERY woman should spoil herself and have a boudoir makeover. It is a fantastic once in a lifetime experience that boosts your confidence and makes you realise that you are beautiful NOW, just the way you are.

The whole session is dedicated to you, and making you look beautiful and feeling glamorous. I sit with you and discuss what hair and make-up that will best suit you and discuss any ideas you may have for your shoot. I also find out what your likes and dislikes are when it comes to your body and help you make choices that are right for you.

Preparing for your photo shoot can be just as much fun as the boudoir photo shoot itself. Deciding what to wear, then searching for that perfect outfit and also practicing your pouts. What's not to love!

Here are some helpful tips to prepare you for your experience:

Tip #1 - Your Outfit

Choose outfits that accentuate your best bits and that fit perfectly, not too loose and not too tight.  If there are certain colours that make you look fabulous, bring these outfits with you.

Outfits don't always have to be lingerie and corsets, a  sexy pyjama sets or a sensuous silk robe can be just as effective. A bra and suspenders is not the be all and end all of boudoir. (But it is a good start)

Come armed to the teeth with sexy outfits, bring at least 3 outfits with you. Heaven forbid you should have a wardrobe malfunction and not have a backup.

Tip #2 - Shoes & Stockings

Don't be shy, bring a few pairs of shoes with you in different styles and heights.
Stockings are important too, fishnets, hold ups and back seamed hosieries will add steamy sexiness to any boudoir session so pack a few types, colours and styles. For a more feminine look cute knee or thigh high socks can look just as sexy.

HOT OUTFIT ITEM: A body control pair of flesh tone tights can be a girl's best friend. These tights will streamline your bum and legs, giving you a gorgeous smoothing and contouring. They also give a hint of colour and a tiny amount of sparkle to your legs that looks incredible. The beauty of these tights is that other stockings such as hold ups can be worn over them too.

Tip #3 - Accessories

Bring matching accessories, don't leave home without them. Pack your bag full of rings, hair flowers, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and so on. A well chosen pair of earrings or a beautiful hair accessory will add personal style and complete your outfit.

Tip #4 - Hair

If you decide to wash your hair for the shoot, opt to wash your hair the night before NOT the morning of the shoot, this can sometimes make your hair unruly and difficult to style.

Tip #5 - Head to Toe

Your hands may be used to accentuate a part of your body or outfit during a particular shot or your feet may be on display in another so they too need to look their best too.

A fake tan is great but ensure you leave enough time prior to the shoot for the tan to settle and look natural, it can be the make or break of a boudoir session.

Tip #6 - Expression

Practice your expressions and poses, it sounds ridiculous but trust me it works. This is the best way to find poses and expressions you like and will help you avoid each photo looking the same.

Practice in the mirror and then try to re-enact the expression or pose without it, you won't be able to see yourself on the day so you will need to remember how it feels.

Eyes can be very expressive and even when you are smiling your eyes can look tense. Learn to express with your eyes or 'smize' as Tyra Banks calls it. If you can harness the power of your eyes you'll achieve maximum boudoir sexiness.

Tip #7 - Beauty Sleep

Have a good night's sleep so you are refreshed and ready for your boudoir session.

Tip #8 - Buff

Before bed exfoliate and properly cleanse and moisturise your skin. Or if your skin is sensitive gently buff your skin with a clean towel in circular movements a few times on the morning of the shoot. This will remove any dead and flaky skin and will help make your skin look flawless when your makeup is applied.

Tip #9 - Allow Plenty Time

Allow plenty of time to arrive at the studio, a mad rush and panic beforehand will make you very tense, which could compromise your experience.

Tip #10 - What Do You Like?
Before any photos are taken I will sit with you and discuss your hopes for the shoot, what you like about your body what you don't.
Tell me if you love your eyes, lips or if you are not too keen on your bum. If I don't you might end up with a whole set of images focused on the bits of you aren't keen on.

Tip #12 - Bring Music

Bring your favourite music with you to play during your shoot, especially songs that make you feel sexy. They give you something familiar to focus on and will relax you quickly in an unfamiliar setting.

I love listening to the Jazz Diva's, Aretha Franklin, Lina Simone, Dinah Washington, Etta James etc.

Tip #13 - Bring A Friend

If you are still feeling nervous about having your boudoir shoot, you are welcome to bring a girlfriend with you to give you moral support. This is a ladies only experience so boyfriends and male friends are sadly not permitted.
